Senior students serve up volleyball skills

Jul 20th, 2008 | By | Category: Sport

SENIOR pupils from Paraparaumu College were the “volleyball gurus” of the school’s third annual workshop recently.

“They pretty much run it,” says year nine dean Candace Knight. “I just facilitate it – they do the instructing.”

The two-day workshop for 38 volleyball hopefuls aged 10 to 15 was a response to Ms Knight’s frustration

that year nine pupils have to try for the college team in the second week of term, before they get a chance to develop proficiency in the sport.

“I have been very pleased with the level of skill development I have seen through each workshop,” says Ms

Knight, who teaches Health and PE from Year 9-11 (3rd to 5th form).

The 13 senior students did a great job working patiently with each of the young ones to teach them the proper technique of each skill, she says.
