England wins again in Wellington
Nov 6th, 2008 | By Jenny Meyer | Category: SportEnglish soccer supporters had fun in the sun as their team beat Nigeria, to finish top of the Group D pool at Wellington Stadium on Sunday.
Abby Adams(14), and her siblings Matthew (11), and Laura (12), were supporting England at the Fifa Under 17 Women’s World Cup, at the stadium.
The Adams family moved back to New Zealand from Croydon, England, twelve weeks ago, and love their soccer said Abby. “Laura was scouted for England, but broke her ankle just before they saw her,” she said.
Laura has now recovered from the springboard diving injury. When asked to pick a tournament winner Laura said “England’s got quite a good team, but the USA or Germany will win”.
The match on Sunday displayed some quality soccer skills and England fought hard against the fast paced Nigerian team for a 1 – 0 win. In the second game of the afternoon, Brazil lost 2 – 1 to Korea Rebuplic.
There are more games scheduled in Wellington on Tuesday and Saturday.
