Keep your hat on: Lincoln lads in cricket heaven

Apr 10th, 2009 | By | Category: Latest News, News

lincolnmainTHE Lincoln senior cricket team were among spectators soaking up the action from the third test between New Zealand and India at the Basin Reserve.

The 16-strong squad travelled to the capital as part of an end-of-season trip in search of test cricket after none was scheduled in the South Island.

Standard dress was bucket hats and club cricket shirts.

Team captain Barry Kay explains: “When you’ve got 16 ‘boys’, it’s pretty easy to lose one of them so we decided we’d wear our senior shirts and get into test match mode.”

The team thoroughly enjoyed its second visit to “the home of New Zealand cricket”, Mr Kay says.

“It doesn’t get much better than this. [The cricketing experience] is second only to your honeymoon.”
