WOVEN-TALES of Ink, Silver and Silk, an exhibition showcasing the work of four Wellington-based artists combined illustration, photography, fashion and jewellery.

Minu, Mairi, Sarah Dalley, Sophie Lewis-Smith used their art forms to explore themes of fairy tale, fantasy and teleportation.

Minu, originally from Germany (right) arrived in Wellington three years ago and stayed.

She has a background in commercial design and architecture, and now works as an independent illustrator and artist.

“This is my first artwork using acrylics on wooden boards, and it took me a while to get used to the acrylics paint,” she says.

Mairi is a graduate from Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland and got an honours degree in Visual Communication specialising in photography in 2006.

Her imagery is driven by a fascination with reflections and illusions.

Sarah Dalley graduated with a Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology from Massey University in 2008 and her work is inspired by fantasy, escapism, nature, romance, fabrics and frills.

Sophie Lewis-Smith has a BA in sculpture from the Edinburgh College of Art. The jewellery in this display reflects childhood imaginings and fantasy.
