A morning at the mosque

Dec 1st, 2009 | By Tasha Black | Category: Diversity, Front Page Layout, Latest News, News

THE Kilbirnie Mosque is many things to many people.

It is a place for prayer and worship, weddings, community gatherings, Ramadan dinners, Sunday school classes and holiday programmes.

The mosque also hosts tours, school visits, open days and ethnic food fairs in an effort to open its doors to the wider community.

On Sunday mornings the Mosque is a hive of activity.

In between sharing lunch and catching up with friends, classes are held on Quran reading and Islamic studies.

  1. Fantastic series of photos, Tasha. Lovely mix of candid and more documentary style shots.

  2. Wonderful photos. Thanks for visiting the mosque and showing so clearly the human face of Kiwi Muslims and Islam in New Zealand.
