Offer of room to those affected by quake

Feb 25th, 2011 | By | Category: Front Page Layout, Latest News, News

A WELLINGTONIAN is opening his home to Christchurch quake victims who are in need of somewhere to stay.

Prathim Mukherjee (29) put an ad on Trade Me saying:

“i have rented a place in wellington. Place is at tinakori road, wellington. I cant do much but one or two person are welcome.”

He says he did it because it was all he could do to help.

“I don’t have the money to help, so why not? I can’t help everyone but if I can help even one person then I’ll be deeply satisfied,” he says.

Mr Mukherjee says that he has had a couple of calls of interest, and is looking into housing a Christchurch woman who is unable to return to her family yet.

He only has one room available, being that he is currently renting and on a limited budget.

He would love to take in many more people but is only concerned that it may not be comfortable for those who stay with him, he says.

“I hope that whatever financial and moral support the people from Christchurch need, they get. That is my wish.”
