TWEET HELP: Pastor Annie Cameron and partner Brent.

A DISTRESSED father of three received much needed help after pleas were made on his behalf over social networking sites.

Stephen Clarke – father of children aged 7, 9, and 11 – has been struggling to feed his family since the Christchurch quake on Tuesday, saying there was next to nothing at the supermarket: “No bread, no nothing.”

Mr Clarke’s ex-wife gave him a contact on Facebook, where Stephen made a plea for aid – any food, financial assistance or even information that people could give.

Without him knowing it, Mr Clarke’s plea was posted on Twitter by someone who saw it on Facebook.

New Zealand celebrity TV fashion judge Colin Mathura-Jeffree started “tweeting” for the family’s cause.

Mr Clarke said he was very happy when the Arise Church in Christchurch made contact with him to offer the help he needed.

Colin Mathura-Jeffree later “tweeted” that it was Senior Pastor Annie Cameron who had provided the assistance.

Mr Clarke said she told him about a truck that was coming from Wellington to give food and would be there around Sunday.

He also said Pastor Cameron was kind enough to make sure he and his family had enough to get by until the truck arrived.

He was extremely thankful for the generosity of others, and pleased at the effectiveness of social networking sites.

Pastor Cameron via her Twitter page:

“We have sorted for Stephen and three kids. Cheers, Annie. Pls pass on any other requests.”

  1. Well done Arise Church, you always know how to push Christ out of the picture and proclaim the glory all for yourself.

  2. Well done Arise Church Wellington! Getting God’s name out to the community where help is needed, being Jesus on the streets!
