Piri and Ma’a back to give Hurricanes some hope

May 12th, 2011 | By | Category: Front Page Layout, Latest News, Sport

THE Hurricanes enjoyed an intense training this week, marked by the notable inclusion of Piri Weepu and Ma’a Nonu for the team contesting round 13 of Super Rugby.

Aaron Cruden was the only starter for this week’s match missing from training, and with Tyson Keats on a four-week suspension, Piri Weepu slots onto the bench in his place.

The Hurricanes boost of returning players comes as the Highlanders lose their top three performers to injury, Adam Thomson, Kade Poki and stand out veteran first five-eighth Tony Brown.

This should have the Hurricanes optimistic going into round 13 with both teams looking to break back into form from losses in round 12.

Josh Hyde captured the preparations at Rugby League Park on Wednesday.
