Tonight – the last of the last of Harry Potter

Jun 13th, 2011 | By | Category: Arts/Entertainment, Latest News, News

TONIGHT is the Wellington premiere of the final instalment of the Harry Potter film series.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (HP VII Pt. II) premieres at 12am tonight and Harry fever is gripping the Capital.

Bex Joyce from the Costume Cave on Wakefield St said all witch and wizard-associated costumes had been booked weeks ago, with less conventional costumes such as Bellatrix and Tonks proving to be more popular than ever.

More than 30 bags of scarves and academic robes lined the floor of Costume Cave yesterday waiting to be picked up by aspiring Slytherins, Gryffindors, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs.

Charlotte Weston from the Embassy cinema on Kent Tce said the midnight premiere of HP VII Pt.II had sold out “within days”.

The Embassy is celebrating the final film by serving Harry Potter-themed food and drinks.

Those familiar with the books will be aware of Hogsmeade, “the only all-wizarding village in Britain” and the infamous Butterbeer.

The chefs at Blondini’s, the café inside the Embassy, have come up with their own version, as well as Hogsmeade classics such as Honeydukes lollipops, acid spiders, Bertie Bott’s every flavour beans, Hagrid’s rock cake and Polyjuice potion.

All the staff will be dressed in Harry Potter attire and Ms Weston believes that if the last premiere is anything to go by “so will at least 90% of the audience”.

The Sydney Morning Herald has dubbed HP VII Pt.II “the perfect Potter send-off”.

The eight-film franchise is the most successful in movie history ($6 billion and counting).

This is also the first Harry Potter movie to be shown in 3D.
