MONTY the one-eyed kitten has settled in with the Blake family of Wadestown.

The visibly-challenged kitten was adopted about six weeks ago at the local church.

Monty was part of a weekly cat and kitten adoption day run at the Wadestown Presbyterian Church by Wellington SPCA.

He was found in a poor state with another kitten called Bear earlier this year, and lived with foster mum Jessica Owen until he was adopted at one of the events.

He is the Blake’s first family pet.

George (6) and Eve (3) (pictured right with Mum Genevieve), have taken a shine to Monty.

George says he kind of looks like a Cyclops with his one eye.

“He’s not too keen on other kids,” says Genevieve.

He hides under beds and behind curtains and is still afraid to venture outside, she says.

The eye did not put them off adopting him and while he will sometimes misjudge a jump, he is an otherwise normal cat.
