Finlayson: Parliament won’t be nice with Peters

Nov 27th, 2011 | By | Category: Front Page Layout, Latest News, News

CHRIS Finlayson is gracious in defeat tonight, conceding Rongotai to Labour’s Annette King by 8022 votes.

Mr Finlayson says the inclusion of Winston Peter’s in the new Parliament doesn’t mean anything in terms of votes, but Parliament is not going to be a very nice place.

“I have no regard for him (Peters) he will bring up race and he will just be unpleasant.

“I’m happy that we closed the party vote in Rongotai to just 100 votes behind Labour.

“Annette King is a very good MP, I think this was an outstanding result for National.”

He acknowledges the good work of John Key and team, but is proud of what the local teams has done over the past three years.

“It has been a great honour to be Treaty Minister and I will do whatever the PM gives me this term.”
