A home grown approach to NZ app design

Mar 28th, 2012 | By | Category: Latest News, News

WELLINGTON entrepreneur, Anthony Radich (22) is always looking out for cutting-edge business ventures.

He grew up wanting his own company, so when he was 16 Mr. Radich (right) started up Radical Media.

He specialises in the design and creation of new products that someone will eventually utilize in his or her everyday life.

Mr. Radich has just forayed into the world of Apple and Android App design with a new app creation business App Us Ltd.

“We plan to revolutionise the market by creating our own unique brand of app,” he says.

App Us is a mobile application solutions company based in Wellington, New Zealand.

They provide solutions for clients wanting mobile web based applications for Apple and Android based products.

Anthony explains how the company got the opportunity to create an app for the Jim Beam Homegrown music festival.

“We saw potential for an app for Homegrown, so we contacted them,” he says

He explains how it was a “hectic week” before Homegrown; getting Apple approval, and finally the app itself going live the day before the event.

The app is web based, but accessible on a mobile phone. It allows a user to login and create a play list of bands from the order they are playing on the day.

The app also contains a map, information on food, drink and first aid services, as well as the location of all the stages.

Mr Radich created the app because he wanted people “to have all the information they needed right in their pocket”.

“The company aims for businesses that already have a website but are seeking something special,” he  says.

“We work with the ethos ‘New not the Norm’.”

Most of the work he does is bringing clients’ dreams to life.

“We try to make their idea better, more innovative.”

Mr Radich believes app design and creation is definitely a growth business.

“We saw a niche market opening,” he says.

Mr. Radich predicts that the mobile device is likely to take over from large screen devices.

“Mobile devices will become a part of everyday life and everyone will be able to afford a system and app which controls their home.”

Apple has already attempted this idea. According to its website, the new iPad will be able to control a television with an Apple TV box connected to it.

Apple’s share of the global market is currently 19.1% and Android based devices take 48.8%, according to Canalys market research.

So, what does the future hold for Anthony and App Us?

“At the moment we are developing ideas for ourselves and for clients,” says Mr.Radich.

He is playing his cards close to his chest about his upcoming projects, however Anthony Radich and the people at App Us are definitely worth watching.

  1. Hi can you make a app for me that I can record fuel tanks and bunds on.
It would need to record under headings of-
    manufacturer
    date of manufacture
    capacity
    lab number
    tank and bund identifier
    location identified by GPS
    a photo
tank and bund identifier, location identified by GPS, and photo would need to be able to be added to as these may change but history retained.
    Ability to email essential.
    Android only

    Regards
