Hikoi makes its presence felt in Auckland streets

Apr 29th, 2012 | By | Category: Latest News, News

Thousands gathered in Auckland’s Lower Queen Street on Saturday April 28 to show their opposition to the proposed sales.

Although the day was overcast and light showers dampened, the mood was jubilant.

Shouts of “Stand up fight back” and a rendition of the Woody Guthrie tune “This Land is Your Land” with lyrics adapted for local geography echoed off building fronts.

Newswire was on hand to capture the Auckland leg of the hikoi opposing asset sales in pictures.
