CONTESTANTS Jessie Webb and Jacklyn Robertson, pictured right, hope the second series of New Zealand’s Got Talent is not a failure like the first one.

Auditions started last week in Invercargill with TVNZ host Tamati Coffey, who is traveling the country and will be in Wellington on May 18 and 19.

Prime television launched New Zealand’s Got Talent in 2008 but the show was not as well advertised as this year’s series.

Jessie Webb (17) did not even hear of  it the first time, and thinks it will be a bigger deal this time around.

“I think it is [a bigger deal] because there is more talent willing to perform because there is more teens involved,” says Jessie, who is a student in New Plymouth.

Having the show open to any age may have some impact.

“Having the auditions open to any age is good idea because no matter what age everyone could have a talent,” says Jessie

“I hope more teens audition, it would be nice to see someone young win again.,” The first show’s winner was 16.

Although she’s still undecided on what she will be performing, Jessie is hoping to get through the first stage.

Singer and songwriter Jacklyn Robertson (20) has entered New Zealand’s Got Talent with the help of friends and family.

“I had been thinking about it as it’s such an amazing opportunity to showcase my talent and they [friends and family] definitely helped me make the decision to enter.

“They are helping me get to my audition and everything,” says the Palmerston North student.

Having the auditions open to any age does not worry Jacklyn, who has 100 per cent respect for anyone with the guts to enter the competition.

“There are so many amazingly talented people in our country and everyone deserves a chance to show it,” she says.

Jacklyn has been watching performance videos and talking to people for tips.

“Of course I will be hoping to win but I will be honoured wherever I get.”
