Three TVs, two laptops, one iPad – elections are go!
WITH an audio visual set up like a media newsroom, there is nothing this election party is going to miss.
Rather than have their usual Wednesday poker game and a few drinks, Wellington city flatmates Tom Hamilton and Doug Jones decided to throw an election party in anticipation of the presidential election vote.
All bases are covered – their living room has been turned into a media centre.
Three 40 inch televisions and two laptops are tuned into Fox News, CNN, the network’s respective websites and a live stream of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Mr Hamilton also has his iPad fixed on Twitter to watch the election tweets roll in.
Mr Jones deliberately tuned into openly right wing Fox News because of their entertainment value.
“We thought it would be really fun to watch them lose,” says Mr Jones.
“It’s interesting. The Presidential election is an 18 month comedy show,” says Mr Hamilton.
Prior to the result Mr Hamilton says a Republican would not surprise him.
“They want to turn time back and restrict equality, that’s where the Republicans went wrong, they aren’t sustainable,” says Mr Hamilton.
“Obama’s policies are far more realistic, it’s his social policies more than anything.”
In the blink of an eye Fox News called the election with a 274 to 203 win for Obama….
“The election disappointed us and finished early,” says Mr Jones.
