Salsa at Sunset a hit on Valentine’s Day

FREE salsa dance lessons on Wellington’s waterfront proved an instant hit as locals got into the swing on Valentine’s Day.

Singles and couples mingled together to learn some new Cuban-style dance moves taught by Rafael Ferrer, co-founder of salsa dance company CubanFusion.

Mr Ferrer (above in the red hat) taught moves from different styles of salsa, including the cha-cha-chá and reggaetón.

The Salsa at Sunset programme is a new additon to the Wellington waterfront summer market, which takes place each Thursday (weather permitting) until April.

Salsa at Sunset is one of many events organised by Wellington City Council this summer. Other events have included movie nights at Waitangi Park and a previous Ladi6 concert on Waitangi Day.

Mr Ferrer will be back running two more dance lessons tonight (21 February)  and the 28th of February at 6pm for anyone who is keen to learn. He is keen to emphasise that no experience or partner is needed.
