THRONGS of happy people filled the streets of Newtown for its annual street festival at the weekend.
More than 300 stalls selling food, jewellery, clothing, holistic health treatments, crafts, crystals and art drew many thousands of Wellingtonians to the sunny suburb.
Wellington musical favourites Beastwars, Newtown Rocksteady and Sendam Rawkustra were just some of the many performers entertaining festival- goers with music and dance on 10 stages.
There was also a busking pitch and two fairground sites.
Further festival events are planned for the suburb. Next weekend there will be the Carrara Park jazz picnic, the Big Bike Fix-up and the Great Newtown Garage Sale.
