Umbrellas were up and coats were on as a crowd of 2,000 waited patiently for a last chance to see the Royals.

Onlookers waited in the pouring rain to farewell the Royal couple…and were not disappointed.

In true Wellington fashion, the skies brightened just in time for their arrival and the sun came out.

Cameras and cell phones worked overtime as the Royal couple spun their magic on the crowd.

A smiling William and Kate took their time, stopping to interact with the locals and accept gifts.

People of all ages waited in the rain for a chance to see them, with some young girls taking advantage of the occasion to dress as princesses.

There were Union Jacks and colourful hand-made banners everywhere.

Kate and Will stopped to sign the visitors’ book outside Wellington’s Town Hall, leaving a permanent reminder of their visit.

Then as quickly as it began, it was all over.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were back in their government limo, and were on their way to the airport to join their baby Prince George for the three hour flight to Sydney, Australia.
