Mosque open day designed to educate locals about Islam

Aug 26th, 2014 | By | Category: Radio News

THE Wellington Islamic Centre threw open its doors to hundreds of curious visitors over the weekend in an effort to overcome prejudice.

The event coincided with the annual Islamic Awareness week which was introduced internationally to educate people about Islam  following the terror attacks of 9/11.

Imam Mohamed Zewada from Wellington’s Kilbirnie  mosque says New Zealand society is becoming more accepting of the religion as it learns more about it.
