Iconic Aro election meeting doesn’t disappoint

Sep 9th, 2014 | By | Category: Radio News

HUNDREDS of people flocked to the Aro Valley Community Centre last night for a meet the candidates meeting.

The 10 Wellington Central candidates were booed, heckled and even squirted with water-guns during the raucous meeting which traditionally attracts outlandish crowds.

Labour’s Grant Robertson and the Green Party’s James Shaw were clear favourites with the crowd, but National’s Paul Foster-Bell and the Conservative Party’s Brian Hooper struggled to gain crowd support.

After the event those attending left in high spirits, despite some of them having to stand for the duration of the three hour meeting.
