Child poverty record not one to be proud of

Oct 30th, 2014 | By | Category: Radio News

NEW ZEALAND is underachieving in the fight against child poverty according to the Child Poverty Action Group.

A UNICEF report released yesterday showed New Zealand had decreased its child poverty levels by less than one percent between 2008 and 2012.

Australia’s child poverty decreased by six percentage points, while both the USA and Great Britain increased by nearly 2.

Janfrie Wakin  from the Child Poverty Action Group says New Zealand’s result was not one to be proud of.
