SANTA’S little elves have been busy packing kits for foster children at Wellington’s Capital E community centre.

Wishful Woodland has been set up to encourage Wellingtonians to come along and pack a kit for children entering a foster home.

Wellington’s Capital E has partnered with Foster Hope to raise awareness and give hope to children going into foster care.

Capital E’s Marketing Manager Sarah Leary is encouraging people to come along to the christmassy smelling space and create gifts for family as well as creating the kits.

“We have had such an amazing response from families in the wellington community,” she says.

In the first two days, 43 kits were packed by school children and young families and Ms Leary hopes they will make 200 in total.

The kit contains toothbrushes, soap, pyjamas, books and soft toys suitable for various age groups.

The items, such as books, are hanging from the Christmas trees displayed around the room and can be chosen by the people making the kits.

Visitors choose their own elf name and can then decorate bag tags with a personal message for the children.

Most of the items used in the kits are donated and some of them are bought by the Foster Hope team

Entry to Capital E is free and it’s open Christmas Eve, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 3pm.

Capital E will be screening Christmas movies from Dec 20 to 24 with a gold coin donation going to Foster Hope.
