Earthquake worries put aside as Chileans party

Sep 22nd, 2015 | By | Category: Radio News

A massive earthquake in Chile has done nothing to dampen the spirits of partygoers in Wellington who celebrated 205 years of Chilean independence on Saturday.

A crowd of around 70 expats turned up at The Grand on Courtenay Place for the fiesta.

Lucas Vargas, a student from Chile says he is praying for his family back home but is confident of Chile’s ability to handle earthquakes.

He says the highlight of the celebrations for him was the food, in particular a Chilean dish called curanto.
