WATCH: Giant scrabble gets capital thinking about adult literacy

A GIANT game of scrabble met commuters at the Wellington Railway Station to help raise awareness on International Literacy Day.

Adult literacy affects over one million people in New Zealand and the event organiser, Literacy Aotearoa Wellington, has been helping Kiwis with it for 25 years.

UNESCO started the day in 1966 to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies.

The NewsWire team went along to document the event.
