Wellington man attempts epic Arctic crossing

Nov 19th, 2015 | By | Category: Radio News

A WELLINGTON man is about to undertake an epic journey.

He’ll be part of the first sledging expedition to navigate  the North West Passage of the Arctic since 1905.

Graham Burke will join two men and a gang of huskies on the 1,100 km, five week  journey.

The journey follows in the footsteps of Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian explorer who was the last person to navigate the area.

Graham says he was lucky enough to be invited along after being recommended by Alaskan locals who had noticed him on previous treks.
