Weekend of boxing set to be a knockout

The Golden Gloves boxing championships get underway this weekend in Taupo and 170 fighters are ready to rumble.

 

Amateur boxing in New Zealand usually gets overshadowed by sports like rugby, netball and cricket according to a survey done by Active New Zealand.

 

But the organizer of this weekend’s event Rex Jenkins, says with the success of boxers like Joseph Parker the sport is likely to grow.
