More to SPCA than cat and dog adoptions

May 17th, 2017 | By | Category: Multimedia, News, Picture story, Top Picture

About 50 full-time staff and over 1,100 volunteers work at the SPCA’s Newtown branch, which offers more than just cat and dog adoptions.

It’s a place where animals receive care and medical treatment, fostering’s arranged, children are educated, dogs can get a fancy wash, and homeless pets are matched with new owners.

A team of six animal inspectors deal with complaints and provide support for animals and people, and other SPCA workers also get out and about, engaging with the community through therapy and educational activities.

Angela Reid visits the people and animals behind the Newtown SPCA.
