PHOTO ESSAY: Have a sticky-beak at Wellington Zoo’s Kea enclosure

May 11th, 2017 | By | Category: Featured Article, News, Picture story

Wellington Zoo’s new $750,000 walk-through Kea enclosure opened earlier this year.

The Kea habitat is the final stage of the Meet the Locals He Tuku Aroha interactive area which has taken five years to complete.

Wellington Zoo is part of the national breeding programme and has successfully bred three chicks from Murray, the one-eyed male Kea.

The enclosure is popular with visitors who can get up close to these cheeky birds and observe them in a Kea-friendly environment.
