The worlds’ first Maori rock art puppet production was showcased in Timaru as a Waitangi Day treat.

100 puppets inspired by the cave drawings around Timaru were used to tell the story of Te Rerenga (The Flight).

Children watched in excitement as they learn about Pourangahua’s (birdmans) flight to Aotearoa.

The puppet troupe aim to increase the appreciation and awareness of indigenous rock art.
