Fergusson girls take to SportsFest court

Fergusson Intermediate students from Trentham were among thousands of Wellington regional primary school children who converged on the city’s venues for SportsFest 2017.

From Kapiti and Upper Hutt down, 51 schools, 340 teams and more than 2700 participants came together for the third annual event held last week.

Wellington City Council, Primary Sport Wellington, and 11 regional sports organisations organise the event, and venues are funded by the Lion Foundation.

Council education partnership leader Elspeth McMillan says SportsFest is about fun, friendship and fair play.

Sports, some of which were modified for ages, included volleyball, basketball, turbo touch, badminton, football, netball, hockey, dodgeball, table tennis and waterpolo.
