Wellington principal opposes National policy

Sep 6th, 2017 | By | Category: Front Page Layout, Lead Radio Story

A Wellington principal is unhappy with the National Party’s latest education policy announcement.

The party’s promising to spend $25 million expanding National Standards if re-elected.

Principals Federation president, Whetu Cormick, is opposing the expansion, describing National Standards as a flawed measure of achievement, especially for special needs students.

And Miramar Central School principal John Taylor-Smith says all students have different backgrounds, so they shouldn’t be measured with the same stick.
