Wellingtonians can expect to see more edible gardens around the city next year following a successful harvest of silverbeet from council gardens last week.

More than 82,000 people responded to a council’s Facebook post offering to give away silverbeet grown in the Lambton Quay garden strips.

Council’s Horticulture team manager Martin Simonlehner says preparations for more silverbeet gardens next year are well underway.
