Animal welfare petition delivered to Parliament

Mar 15th, 2018 | By | Category: Radio News

One of the biggest petitions in five years was delivered to parliament today.

More than 100,000 people have signed the petition calling for the government to stop the farrow caging of pigs.

Animal rights organisation SAFE campaign director Mandy Carter says the conditions pigs are kept in are inhumane.

Meanwhile Green Party spokesperson for animal welfare Gareth Hughes says the number of signatures on the petition alone is reason for the government to take notice.
