Guernseyman’s goals driving Team Wellington

Team Wellington’s Ross Allen hopes to continue his prolific goalscoring form through the business end of the season.

The Guernsey-born striker has scored a goal every 70 minutes since joining the club in January.

He says his first two months of football in New Zealand have been a delight.

Allen was particularly successful during the recent Oceania Champions League group stage play in Honiara.

He scored five over Team Wellington’s three games there, helping them progress to the knockout rounds.

The winner of that competition goes on to the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup.

Allen missed Sunday’s 0-0 draw against Canterbury United with an arm infection.

He was left out of the side as a precaution with all the big matches coming up over the next month.
