Kiwi goat milk formula has export potential

Aug 23rd, 2018 | By | Category: Radio News

New Zealand is known for its bovine exports, but a recent programme launched by the Ministry of Primary Industries wants to add goat milk infant formula to that list.

The programme will inject just under 30 million dollars into setting up the necessary knowledge and infrastructure to generate a predicted four hundred million dollars in export revenue.

David Hemara, CEO of Dairy Goat Co-operative NZ, is looking to develop New Zealand’s ability to compete on  international markets.

He says goat’s milk isn’t a threat to the dairy industry as it’s an alternative for infants who can’t tolerate cow’s milk.
